Grace and William Darling Into the Waves

Grace and her father conducted a daring rescue in a savage storm in 1838 which made her famous. The nine Life Saving Stations on the beaches of the Outer Cape were staffed by brave Life Savers such as she. These men walked the beaches at night in all weather, ever alert to signs of distress from the sea.
