Agnes Collis
Capturing the simple beauty of life on Cape Cod, the minimalist compositions of Agnes Collis depict the changing energy of the ocean, the brilliant colors and reflected light of the sea. Rich visual experiences tumble from life lived, and then from the easel.
Returning to painting after a long absence in 1995, the artist settled into oil painting as her medium with shore vistas, evoking both childhood summers at the New Jersey shore and decades of travel to the Cape as her subject matter.
Refining her craft through workshops on the Cape with Anne Packard, Robert Cardinal, Rick Fleury and Christie Scheele, among others, Agnes has emerged as a landscape painter with a subtle, open aesthetic. Her home is in Wellfleet overlooking sweeping dunes and the Atlantic. She currently exhibits her work in private and corporate collections around the country.
