After a 30+ year career as an award-winning graphic designer and illustrator, Jody returned to her first love for painting and drawing as a pastel artist working in a representational style. How light affects form and color and composition are the fundamentals she uses to reflect the beauty and diversity found in nature and in people.
Jody lives part-time on Cape Cod where the unique light, color and landscapes provide endless opportunities for inspiration and subject matter. Travel also has influenced her art. Seeing and interpreting as an artist gives Jody fresh perspectives on the places Jody has seen and the people she’s met.
Jody has a BA in commercial art and continues her fine art education through classes and workshops with noted pastel artists such as Tony Allain, Jacob Aguiar, Margaret Dyer and others. She is a member of the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod (where she currently serves as Vice-President), the Creative Arts Center in Chatham MA, the Cape Cod Art Association, and the Provincetown Art Association (PAAM).
Jody’s work has been juried into national and international exhibitions, including the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod National Juried Exhibitions, the Pastel Society of North Carolina International Juried Exhibition, the Pastel Society of Maine Annual International Juried Exhibition, the Pastel Society of New Hampshire National Juried Exhibitions, the Connecticut Pastel Society National Juried Exhibition, the Adirondack Pastel Society National Juried Exhibition, the Cape Cod Art Center 2018 National Juried Exhibit and the Creative Arts Center Juried exhibitions.
