Exploring Taisuke (Tai) Soda’s Artistic Journey and Inspirations

Tai emigrated from Japan when he was 28. He lived in the NYC area and worked in academic publishing as an Acquisitions Editor and later as a Japanese language instructor. After frequent visits to the Cape, including a vacation home in Provincetown for many years, he retired to Eastham in 2020 as a year-round resident. Tai is delighted to work from his Japanese themed studio that he designed in a barn at his home.
Inheriting much from his artistic mother, Tai is self-taught, always having liked to draw and paint from an early age. He has authored and illustrated several children’s books. Tai is inspired by nature’s beauty and expresses his emotional response to fleeting light or moments through impressionist oil paintings of landscapes and seascapes here on Cape Cod and beyond.
Tai is delighted to be a juried member of the Eastham Painters Guild and join the wonderful community of artists exhibiting their work at the 1869 Schoolhouse Museum. Tai also is a Juried Artist member of the Cape Cod Art Center in Barnstable and has shown his work at the Galley West Art Gallery in Orleans and the Provincetown Art Association and Museum. He continues his art education by participating in various in-studio, en plein air and online workshops. Among many other interests are travel, gardening, hiking, golf, tennis and pickleball.
