Peggy Orbon

Peggy Orbon

Peggy Orbon began painting soon after moving to the Southwest where the dramatic landscapes and beautiful light were such an inspiration. She has studied and continues to study with many talented artists that teach at the Scottsdale Artists School in Scottsdale, Arizona. Presently, Peggy spends part of the year in Massachusetts and part in Arizona. Peggy’s work has shown in numerous national juried shows over the past several years.

Artist Statement: I enjoy painting landscapes on location (painting “en plein air”). This need to get the painting down quickly before the shadow and light patterns change keeps my painting fresh. Painting the scene in front of me quickly helps me to register the local color, capture the atmosphere and remember the subtle details later. I often use these plein air paintings as a source when creating larger studio paintings. Composing the scene to image the fleeting light patterns is a focus and interest in my landscape work. My primary mediums are pastel and oil.
