Exploring Nature’s Palette: Nancy Gardner’s Artistic Journey

Nancy grew up summering on a lake in Northern NJ. Her years spent outdoors in nature continue to influence her choice to visit the Cape’s many communities over the last 50 years. She and her husband eventually settled in Eastham in 2014 and became year round residents in 2022.

Though Nancy had primarily painted in watercolor and acrylic in NJ, she began exploring oil painting through classes at the Cape Cod Art Center, the Chatham Creative Art Center, and Cape Cod Museum of Art. She enjoyed drawing classes at Castle Hill in Truro and fell in love with the palette colors of the Cape School of Art, especially those of Syd Hale and John Clayton.

Nancy loves to find the peaceful softness in nature and tries to capture these moods in her paintings.
