“Light, and how it affects form and color are the fundamentals I follow
to represent the beauty and diversity I see in nature and in people.
On Cape Cod the unique light, color and vistas provide endless opportunities for inspiration and subject matter. Travel also influences my art. Seeing and interpreting as an artist gives me fresh perspectives on the places I’ve seen and the people I’ve met.”
After a 30+ year career as an award-winning graphic designer and illustrator, Jody returned to her first love for painting and drawing as a pastel artist working in a representational style. She paints in her studio from her own sketches, reference photographs and field notes. Jody also enjoys painting en plein air.
She continues her fine art education through classes and workshops with such noted pastel artists as Tony Allain, Margaret Dyer, Desmond O’Hagan, Jacob Aguiar and others. Jody is a current member of the Eastham Painters Guild, the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, the Creative Arts Center in Chatham, the Cape Cod Art Association, and the Provincetown Art Association (PAAM).
Jody’s work has been juried into local, regional, national and international exhibitions and has won numerous awards.
