2019 Eastham Painters Guild Scholarship Winners
Congratulations to the 2019 Eastham Painters Guild $1,000 scholarship winners Hannah Capra and Therese Henault from Cape Cod Tech, and Charlotte Vadeboncoe and Landon Parr from Nauset Regional High School!
Hannah Capra will attend Montserrat College of Art with a long term goal of becoming a museum curator. She will use this money to purchase an art supply kit which is required by and sold by the college. Hannah is Vice President of her class and has worked at Provincetown Art Assoc and Museum for three years as a lead mentor for children ten to thirteen years old.
Therese Henault lives in North Eastham and hopes to attend Kansas City Art Institute. She enjoys a wide range of projects and media from painting, drawing, design and photography. She is one of the leaders in the Design and Visual Communications Shop and volunteers her time at Wild Care and with the Elks.
Landon Parr will be attending the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. He has worked as a teachers aide at PAAM in Provincetown in several programs. ART ON THE EDGE is a program that gives children the opportunity to grow and learn in the culture of the Provincetown community. ART REACH TEACHES is a program that offers adults and seniors a chance to practice art making free of charge in a cross-generational setting. Landon will major in animation at Mass Art. His high school level work our committee observed was outstanding. His sketchbook clearly showed is self directed skills. We feel he will go far in the art field. He is from West Harwich.
Charlotte Vadeboncoeur is from Brewster and was undecided about where she will attend college at our interview. Her choices included Mass Art, School of Visual Art in NYC or the Art Institute of Chicago. She is planning on a career in illustration which was evident in the wonderful sketchbooks she presented the committee in our interview. Her story telling illustrations from her imagination are not something usually seen at a high school level. They were creative and technically excellent and showed her masterly at figures. Charlotte is an amazingly talented young woman and we wish her well.
